Tonight I found myself browsing the 1980 JC Penney Christmas catalog, the 1983 Sears Christmas catalog, and the 1984 Montgomery-Ward Christmas catalog thanks to Jason over at wishbookweb.com. I discovered this website earlier today after seeing it mentioned on the awesome Plaid Stallions blog (and yes, you should go check out both sites if you are even the least bit nostalgic for all things '80s, as I am).
For some reason I always go nuts when I see pictures of toys and games I had as a kid; I make it no secret that I am hugely nostalgic. I'm surprised I've been able to part with any of my old games and toys at all (I kept many of them for over 20 years), because if I had the space I would keep everything. So of course seeing the photos in these catalogs brought back a lot of memories for me!
Because of all the pictures I found, I'm going to split this into three separate posts.
First, I want to share what I found in the 1980 J.C. Penney Christmas catalog.
Isn't the Little Brown Pony cute? I had one of these as a toddler and still remember the clicking sound the plastic wheels would make on our 1970s (*cough cough*) fake laminate kitchen floor. Years later my little sister, who was born in 1989, would get to enjoy Little Brown Pony, too; not only did she like to ride him but she also used to wear his saddle as a hat. :)
Okay, I'll admit that I totally wish I'd hung onto my 'Lil Lady Buggy (on the left)! I still remember the tinkling sound the bell made in the front of the Buggy, and would take my dolls and toys for "walks" all around the house! My little sister inherited the 'Lil Lady Buggy, too; I posted a photo of her with it (and several of my other childhood toys) here.Well, that's all for the 1980 J. C. Penney Christmas catalog. Up next: the 1983 Sears Christmas Wish Book!
